Cucunubá Caves Hiking Tour
Cucunubá Hiking Tour
We'll meet at the indicated time at the main park of Ubaté. From there, we'll start a hiking route that will take us to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
During this 5 km (3 miles) hike, we'll get to explore the biodiversity that abounds in this natural area of the department of Cundinamarca. We'll see deer, Andean condors, eagles and eagles! Did you know that there are approximately 180 different species of birds in this area? So keep your eyes peeled, as we might be able to spot some of them!
Our hiking route will take us to places as special as the Cucunubá Caves, a sacred site for the Muisca people, where future chieftains would come to reflect on their existence, speak with the elders, and learn to master their own bodies. It’s a magical place!
As we explore the caves’ various chambers, we’ll admire rock formations and narrow passageways teeming with endemic vegetation and, of course, we’ll share ancient myths and legends associated with these lands.
The hiking trail will take us into one or two caves, depending on availability at the time. However, over the course of 2 to 3 hours exploring the Cucunubá caves, we’ll discover various Muisca rock paintings dating back more than 800 years.
Upon exiting the caves, we’ll give you some free time to recharge and relax while admiring the scenery before us.
Finally, we’ll be back at the meeting point in Ubaté after a 5-to-6-hour tour.
